Norman Sutphin
|
A native of Ringoes, New Jersey, he holds degrees from Lebanon Valley College in Annvile, Pennsylvania and from Westminister Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. He received his advanced organ instruction from Pierce Getz and William Hays. He has served churches in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Camden, Arkansas, and in Houston as an organist and choir director. In addition to concertizing in New Jersey, New York, Arkansas, and Texas, he is known as a versatile accompanist at the secondary and collegiate levels. He has also been active as an accompanist for the Royal Academy of Dance. He has accompanied major choral works at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC, and at The Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove, NJ. Mr. Sutphin is a member of the Board of the Texas Conference Choir Clinic, where he has served as an organ clinician and staff accompanist. He is a member and past Dean of the American Guild of Organists. He is currently in his eleventh year of service as Organist as St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Houston. |
